Sharadha Bhat | A Woman Living By Her Name

Have you ever encountered someone whose mere presence enriches you quietly, without effort? Someone whose clarity, grace, and authenticity leave behind a sense of calm and respect? This is a reflection on such a woman.

A First Impression

Long ago, I served as an examiner under her during an evaluation process. I was known for grading strictly and fairly, but without compromise. Most teachers disliked that approach. She was the exception. She appreciated the integrity behind it and acknowledged the importance of awarding marks as they ought to be given. That moment stayed with me.

Working as Colleague

I am eccentric and nonconformist often difficult for many to accept. When I started to work under her. She did not try to change me, restrain me, or judge me. Instead, she allowed me the freedom to grow into my full potential. She accepted people as they are. That rare ability to see reality without distortion is one of her defining strengths.

Living By Her Name

In ancient Indian texts and modern usage, Sharada (Śāradā) is another name for the Hindu goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, wisdom, learning, and the arts.

Very few people live by meaning of their name. She does it perfectly by depicting her wisdom and learning by her age where most people wish to relax, doing nothing.

Woman Empowerment Done Right

Her elegance reflects the same values she lives by simplicity, dignity, and purpose. There is nothing loud, performative, or attention seeking.

In a world increasingly obsessed with appearances, her simplicity stands out quietly. It reinforces a powerful message: authority does not need ornamentation, and confidence does not demand validation. Her presence speaks before her attire ever does.

Good Parenting Matters

She is the best example of good parenting. Thanks to her parents efforts of best conditioning.

Being served as Principal , she dislike being in authoritative position because of its clutches and patriarch mindset. She chose to remain free and happy by teaching in classrooms.

Sometimes I dislike her being too innocent to look for good in everyone. This may not seem good in the world of intellectual dishonesty. The world is corrupt, she has stayed innocent.

When Work Feels Like Play

She handles both academic and non academic so effectively. If you are honest with yourself you can do that. What feels like work for others, feels like play for her. Never seen her tired face. You meet her at 10 am or by 5 pm. She remains same. She responds same.

Leading by Example, Living with Grace

She always leads by example. I always seen her on time, meticulous at explaining things. Scheduled ahead of time for professional hardships. Being woman and authoritative in hard in India. She has set benchmark so high, people around her find it hard to reach. I have heard stories of high benchmarks about Visveswaraya, Kalam and Modi. But that is how a person should be.

Mentorship, Motherhood, and Meaning

She has Mother like care for students. She mentors students as it should be. Dedication by investing personal money for well being of students and college. She has found meaning in her profession, very few can be proud of that.

Open for Hard Debates

I have discussed hard hitting topics with her, which average people deny to have a debate. Most people with ego on table to debate but Sharada mam listens like child and think before saying something. Hard to find women who believe in science and question dogmatic belief systems induced by institutions. That shows her prowess to see things as they are.

A Lasting Impression

I miss working under her. But I am grateful that I found her in my life. Another name has been added to my personal Wall of Fame – a project about people that will come into existence soon.

Perhaps the most beautiful thing about her is that she laughs like a child, even in her sixties. Many people die much earlier not in age, but in spirit.

I sometime wish, every house to have a mother like her, every college to have a teacher like her.

The world is in need of more people like her.
