Cloud Computing, Big Data and IoT workshop at Atharva College of Engineering, Mumbai

It was assimilating experience in Mumbai for a Cloud Computing, Big Data and IoT (Internet of Things) workshop at Atharva College of Engineering. It was a great experience to be a resource person with Ravindra Dastikop and Mayur Patil.

We were blessed with great hospitality, high speed internet. This triggered us to deliver us more than promised.

Sessions:

Day 1 was handled by Ravindra Dastikop on Cloud Computing and its diversities.

Day 2 was handled by Mayur Patil on Cloud Computing hands-on sessions.

Day 3 was mine. The session on Virtualization, the cloud enabler. We had an interactive sessions on networking leading to how cloud took birth. And in turn how Virtualization makes the Cloud Run seamlessly.

In post session we had hands-on on HortonWorks and Cloud Era in VirtualBox. Though it was hard we tried hands-on with VirtualBox. Finally it concluded with introduction to Docker. (Dockers are replacing the Virtual stuffs, driving the Cloud). Here are the presentations shared in the workshop:

We also had sessions on Codenvy(Cloud IDE), which is built using Docker containers.

Next day we has brainstromig session on Big Data. I call my presenation of Big Data as ‘Circus’. It is simplified to understand things in a simple way. MapReduce working was demonstrated. He is sample copy of Big Data-simplified presentation presented at the venue.

We also had an hands-on session on Private Cloud Storage to understand how Cloud works at miniature level. The Cloud was setup using OwnCloud framework, the one which is used in DigiLocker (Govt. of India’s Cloud Storage). Finally on a learning side explored more about IoT with Mayur Patil.

Liberating Experiences:

It was great to taste Vadapav. Have a great conversation with Vadapav Wala for directions. In a 5 mins conversation he pointed that small careless conversation will lead to a bad impression of Mumbai. I was taken away by his humility.

On Day 2 we went on to movie called “secret life of pets”, which one of best movies ever in 3D. The INOX theatre was good with great sound system. I suggest you to watch the movie without fail.

On the course of evening hangout. Learnt about Nandan Nilkeni (one of smartest Indian) great vision on Aadhar on Juhu Beach. Ravindra Dastikop’s insights on Sir m visvesvaraya great endeavors to achieve the impossible was an inspiration.

On our way back at boarding on last day. A wedding procession blocked traffic and people danced like no tomorrow. No one cares whatsoever. Even the cops. It was reflection of vibrant culture. It was looking similar to this:
