How I fixed “Can’t Access a Particular Web Site” issue? [resolved]

Few days back I got a issue for accessing a particular website. (That too which is owned by me!)

As default I googled up and read many forums. But could not resolve the issue but got some ideas.

Finally I fixed it up using my ideas.

What would have caused the problem?

The problem occurs when viewing the same site over a router from more that one computer or application at the same time for a period of time. This activates something in the server software that puts your IP address on a so called “BAND LIST”.You web hosting company will not be able to correct it because they don’t know what is going on because they can see that it is working fine from there point of view.

Here is how I did it.

You need to change your DNS server address of your machine connection. (You can also set static IP address for your machine too but its optional.)

To get the best DNS address is to visit www.opendns.com and perform below steps:

1. Click the Start menu, then select Control Panel.

2. Click on Network and Sharing Center.

3. Click on your primary connection or Local Area Connection under ‘Active Networks.’

4. Click the Properties button.

Windows 7 may prompt you for permission to make network setting changes.

5. Highlight ‘Internet Protocol Version 4’ and click Properties.

6. Click the radio button ‘Use the following DNS server addresses:’ and type in OpenDNS’ addresses in the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server fields.

In case if you use modem for internet connection, please do add the new address in its software not in your windows network settings as above. (If you do in windows, it gets reset when you disconnect and connect your modem next time!)
